Recent Downtime
Apologies to all for the recent few weeks downtime. There was a series of extensive problems with two different web hosting bodies but they appear to be over (fingers crossed). It should be smooth sailing once again.

Overview
This site is home to a small effort to summarise all the great ideas generated over the last few years by the Haiku OS team's future directions mailing list, Glass Elevator. Note that this project is not designed to create content but to organise the material discussed previously so as to make it easier to digest (rather than reading the entire mailing list end to end). All ideas from the large to the small will eventually be summarised, the practical and to the imaginative.
Anyone willing to contribute is more than welcome. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Go to the thread view of the archives at the site and pick a thread whos ideas dont appear to be in the wiki
- Read all the messages from that thread so that you have a bit of a background
- Copy/paste/edit/combine/whatever the contents as a new page somewhere in this wiki
It doesnt have to be perfect, even just copying and pasting the entire contents of the thread onto a new page with an accurate title would be a great help.
Keep up to date with content changes through any of these means:
- RSS feed
- Recent changes page
- Coming Soon(er or later): CVS commit style mailing list ...
Caveats
Anyone wishing to contribute must heed these few items,
- Remember it's all about summarising, any changes which dont follow the following rules will be immediately and without consideration reverted:
- Suggestions belong on the mailing list
- Issues with the accuracy of summaries belong on the talk pages
- Issues with the potential implementation of the concept belong on the concept page (suitably labelled) and should be discussed on list.
- Documenting current discussions may not be all that useful. Either wait for it to die down, or label it as a work in progress
- Inclusion here is no indication as to an idea's acceptance for R2, it merely indicates it has been discussed enough for a relatively stable core idea to develop.
- Im not sure of the status of the email copyright. Shouldnt be a big thing
The list archives can be found at http://www.bug-br.org.br/mailman/listinfo/glasselevator-talk ready for summarising.

Summaries
R2 Ideas
Michael Phipps provided an extensive list of features discussed on the GE list a few months back. Have a look at these R2 Ideas for some overall idea of the progress of the list. Note that very few of these have been summarised so far. Also, this is not list to add your own ideas to. The mailing list is the place for this.
Summaries by Category
Additionally the category 'Incomplete' contains a number of summaries that are in definite need of attention. Any contributions to these would be appreciated.
Administration
It has been suggested that the documentation follow a stricter layout and content structure. Have a look at the Proposed Documentation Template and change it to incorporate how you feel it should work. Or leave feedback on the talkback page. This wont come into effect until/if there is some sort of general-ish consensus.
